Brunel Dock

The Brunel Dock at Briton Ferry has considerable interest as a potential focus for the regeneration of this part of Neath.   An active local community group has been campaigning for the restoration of the dock for a number of years.

swansea-waterlinks   shares their interest in the future of Brunel Dock due to its potential as a terminus for an extended Neath Canal. Historically, it was only linked to the Neath Estuary, never the Neath Canal, but the proposal would benefit both projects.

Brunel Dock would have a new purpose - moorings for leisure craft, both inland and sea-going. Business serving this growing leisure sector would be attracted to Briton Ferry by the improved environment around the Dock, and its proximity to the M4 motorway.

The regional waterway would also benefit with the availability of moorings, maintenance, fuel, etc. It would also encourage boats to use the interesting stretch of the Neath Canal beyond Neath town centre. A restored Brunel Dock would be a worthwhile destination.
